Talar's Story: Choosing the Wedding Party

Written by . Posted in Talar's Story

One of the decisions I didn't have to to make was whether or not to have a wedding party! Serj and I always knew that it was important and meaningful for us to have our closest friends and family standing right next to us on our wedding day. With that said, allow me to introduce our wedding party and how we chose each person...

Our flower girl and ring boy were the easiest choices. For those who know me, know that my social media is full of photos of my 4-year-old niece, Sareen and my almost 3-year-old nephew, Aram. They are the youngest kids around us and I knew when they were born, that they would be the flower girl and ring boy at my wedding. They are so beyond excited and are counting down the days with us!

Their parents, my brother and sister-in-law, Shant and Odet, will be our best man and maid of honor. They have always been great role models to Serj and I, and although it may be untraditional for the bride’s brother and wife to be the godparents, we are looking forward to having them stand right by our sides on our big day, and following some of the great paths they have laid out for us.

Serj also has two younger brothers, Christian and Jonathan. Jonathan, the youngest of the brothers, will be holding the “Here comes the bride” sign, right before I walk in and Christian will be starting the ceremony by walking in his and Serj’s grandmother into the church.

The remaining members of our wedding party consist of our closest friends, and some of the best partiers! Our groomsmen are Zaven, Mike, Harry, Avo and Salim and my bridesmaids are Narine, Mariam, Maral, Nairie and Mallory.

There are some costs associated with having a wedding party. With ours, Serj and I will be paying for the bridesmaid dresses, and the groomsmen tuxes/suits. Each can run between $100-$300 depending upon where they are purchased/rented. Given our larger wedding party, we will also need to rent a party bus instead of a limo that I’ll talk about in our next blog!

At the end, no matter the cost, Serj and I are ecstatic about our wedding party and cannot wait for the partying to continue….

XOXO
