Shant and Datevig Featured Wedding

Shant and Datevig met in junior high and went to high school together. They were distant friends and had a crush on each other at one point but it never went any further than that. It wasn't until they went to the same university, University of California Irvine that they started to spend more time with each other. Shant would always help Datevig with her math homework and he would always help her finish all her class work even before he started on his own. The more time they spent together the more they realized they had in common.

Shant told Datevig that he wanted to take a big, fun trip together to London. Since Datevig was still in dental hygiene school, he told her that he'd plan the whole trip. On their first night there they stayed at a place called Amberley Castle, in the West Sussex countryside. It's a 900 years old castle that's been converted into a country hotel. After dinner, Shant asked Datevig if she wanted to go on a walk. They walked around outside for a bit in the pitch dark! Shant found a spot where there were flowers and some lighting and asked Datevig if she wanted to take a picture there. He went to go set up the phone on a chair so that it could take the picture of them. During this time he actually opened up a phone app that snaps about 60 pictures non-stop. He then went and stood by her and pretended to take a picture, then turned around and asked if he could ask her something. Before she knew what was happening, Shant got down on one knee and opened a box with a beautiful ring inside! Datevig didn't know what was going on and was listening to Shant say beautiful things about her and their relationship, and asked if she wanted to spend the rest of her life with him! And of course, after 8 years of dating, Datevig said yes!

Shant and Datevig Proposal

After the proposal, while they were still in London, they picked their wedding date. Upon their return, they started wedding planning! Datevig and Shant really enjoyed every step of the planning process. They started off with choosing their Church. Since they are both Armenian, they wanted to pick an Armenian Church. As the couple described, when they were at St. Leon Armenian Cathedral, the high ceilings, natural light, and the bigger than life feeling they got made the church their choice of where they would exchange their vows. Their next step was choosing the venue. The grand ceiling of Taglyan Cultural Complex took their breaths away and they booked the hall for their big day. Shant and Datevig had so much fun looking at Pinterest for wedding ideas and inspirations. Also, their wedding coordinator, Anita from Fancy That! Events helped them throughout the wedding planning process making every step easy and enjoyable.

Datevig and Shant wanted to have a timeless and romantic wedding. All the different elements of the wedding, helped bring their vision to life. The flowers were cream and blush and the décor mirrored that with added touches of gold. There was a champagne tower and hors d'oeuvers for guests to enjoy during cocktail hour. The cocktail area was decorated with framed quotes of the couple's favorite love quotes, written in calligraphy in gold frames. The head table was decorated with cascading flowers, surrounded with candles, and two framed signs with the words "Mr. Teg" and "Mrs. Teg", a shortened version of Shant's last name. Moreover, as the bride's father was born in Ethiopia, there was an Ethiopian singer singing wedding songs and playing traditional instruments for the new husband and wife.
